MINUTES – BOARD MEETING
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2003
PENN STATE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
GREATER JACKSONVILLE CHAPTER
PRESENT: Bill Dusack, President, Bob Streightiff, Treasurer, Danielle Howard, Secretary, Josiah Pritchard, Vice President, Meredith Dusack, Media/PR Chair, Richard Holtz, Athletic Events Chair, Jim Schultz, Volunteer Chair, and Jodie Davis, Social Chair.
ABSENT: Mary Yanda, Immediate Past President and Josh Joswick.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Bill Dusack, President.
The minutes of the January 21,2003 meeting were reviewed and approved 8 – 0.
Officer and Chair status reports followed.
Membership Report – No Report
Media/PR Chair – No Report
Athletics Chair – No Report
Volunteer Chair – No Report
Vice President – No Report
Treasurer’s Report – Bob reported that the chapter had a balance of $3,034.12 as of January 31, 2003.
Social Chair – Jodie reported that “Dining with the Lion” will be renamed “Dining with P-S-U” and will start in April combining the blue/white game with dining at Players Grill. May will be at Stonewood Tavern, and June at Uli’s. Firm dates will be announced at a later date.
Discussions turned to the March 2003 Spring Break activities.
Bill reported that the Singing Lions would be leaving Greensboro, SC and traveling to Jacksonville. The Singing Lions need $1,000 for their spring trip and are around $950 in the hole. They are asking for donations and Bill said the chapter could donate at least $200.
There will be 28 singing lions, 8 girls and 20 boys who will need housing
The singing lions want to know if they can sell CDs and T-shirts after the concert. Jodie will check with the church.
Jodie said that the dinner will be $9.95 per person and then we can charge members $15 to cover the cost of the meals for the singing lions and habijax kids. It was decided children under 6 eat free. The deadline for RSVPs was set for March 1st.
Jim said the Habijax kids will arrive on Sunday. There will be 16 students. The chapter will designate Wednesday at group habijax day.
Josiah asked for a copy of the current member roster to help with the lodging arrangements. Danielle will send an e-mail asking for housing volunteers for the singing lions.
Jim will get the information on when and where to meet the Habijax kids on Wednesday.
Meredith will put mentions in the local papers.
Bill mentioned he had invited 5 retirement communities to the concert.
Discussion ensued and plans for the spring event were finalized
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.
